A little about me real quick…

Born and raised in West Hooper Utah.

From high school through college and into my mid 30’s I made my living starting colts, raising Quarter-Mustang-Draft crosses, training and trading horses, cowboying for different outfits (Cross Mill Iron, Secrist Horses, Stetter Outfitters, Sun C, and T Cross Ranches among others) and riding Saddle Broncs professionally in the NIRA, IRA and PRCA.

Traveling the continent with my Dogs and Horses, having homes in Wickenburg, Dubois, Malad and all around Utah have been some of the best and most memorable times of my life.

In 1997, looking toward the future and wanting to spend more time with my own animals, I got into financial services and investing. I obtained my Insurances (Property, Casualty, Life and Health) and Securities licenses (series 6 & 63) and helped launch a Liberty Mutual office in Ogden as a financial ‘Life Planner’ where I focused my energies for 4 years. It was a great background for what would come next but bored me indescribably.

So, in 1999 I went back on the road to do what I love. Ride.

Riding cool horses in cool places. Rodeoing, starting rez-bred Hancock colts, guiding hunters or leading pack strings and hauling drop camps into the Wind River and Absaroka Wilderness areas. During this time, while looking for an awesome place to call home, real estate, land and usable horse places specifically became a passion, right alongside time spent with my own animals, and to focus on such. So that’s what I did.

Over the next couple years while still mostly on the road, I obtained my Real Estate license and in January of 2003 became a full time Realtor. Shortly thereafter I found my current place in Liberty, on the back slopes of the incredible Northern Wasatch Mountains of Utah that I’ve always called home.

Within about six months of licensing it became readily apparent that Horse People had no real effective representation for buying or selling Horse Properties. Typical suburban Realtors often didn’t have much working knowledge as to the value of things like available water rights and systems, fencing, barns, arenas, layout, parking or other myriad important features pertinent to effectively running a horse or livestock operation, large or small. These things can add significant value, which was being overlooked and undervalued by many agents. Usable Livestock property, especially with farm or cropland is a notably different market than just residential comparisons.

Not coincidentally, horse places, farmland and ranches were all I really cared to deal with, so in early 2004 I started Utah Horse Properties to provide honest, genuine, experienced and knowledgeable property representation and marketing to my people and my horse community… My Tribe.

I continue to do so exclusively and selectively to this day for over 20 years now.
